The care behind every piece.

There is a version of curtain-making that is quick, convenient and perfectly adequate. And then there is ours.

At Hampshire Curtain Makers, every piece we produce is hand-sewn. The quality of lining and interlining, the way each heading is sewn— all are decided individually, for the specific fabric and the specific window, with the kind of patience that machine production cannot replicate. It takes longer than some. That is entirely the point.

Hampshire Curtain Makers was founded by Penny Gregory, a soft furnishings specialist whose career to date includes private commissions and long-standing designer partnerships making some of the most technically demanding window treatments for properties in the south of England. Penny leads a team of highly experienced makers and is supported by additional skilled hands when project volume calls for it.

Between us, the team brings a depth of knowledge across curtain and blind making that is genuinely rare — and a shared standard of finish that means every piece delivered is one we are proud to put our name to.

How We Work

The first conversation. Every project begins with a conversation — by phone or email — to understand your requirement and whether we are the right people for you. We will always be honest if a project is outside our scope, though that has rarely been the case.

The home visit. We visit your property to take precise measurements, assess the windows and, where helpful, advise on treatments, fabrics and heading styles. We work sensitively in occupied homes, and for designer clients, visits can be coordinated around your site programme.

Fabric and specification. We hold accounts with the leading fabric houses as well as a number of independent textile designers and specialist suppliers. For private clients, we manage the fabric supply as part of our full service — this is not simply a convenience, but a genuine quality commitment. Controlling the fabric from source means we can stand fully behind every aspect of the finished project.

For designers, we are equally at home working with your specified fabrics or offering to supply where it is helpful.

Making. Your window treatments are made by our team — in our own workrooms, by the people who measured and specified them. Our typical lead time is six-eight weeks from confirmed order, subject to fabric availability. Timelines are discussed openly at the point of enquiry.

Installation. Fitting is carried out by our own team, and we do not consider the job done until everything hangs exactly as intended. We are experienced in the full range of window types — standard and bay, apex and shaped, period reveals with all their idiosyncrasies. We respect and protect your home throughout, and leave it exactly as we found it — with the addition of window treatments we are proud of and are sure you will love.

“Penny is a dedicated professional who will never settle for anything other than the optimum solution for the client in question”
